Doug Hellie is a Business Broker, and Mergers & Acquisitions specialist with the Business Opportunities division of the Vaughan Company. Along with assisting business owners in evaluating and selling their businesses, he specializes in helping small businesses to plan, structure, and execute growth strategies. Moving to New Mexico from Texas in 2005, he recently chose to affiliate with the Vaughan Company because of their position as the premier intermediary for business acquisitions and divestures in Albuquerque, with 41 completed transactions in 2006 and over 800 during the past 20 years. Mr. Hellie has been a cofounder, principal officer or key consultant to a variety of businesses from high tech and financial services firms to distributorships, restaurants, and small manufacturers. He has structured dozens of private securities offerings either as a consultant to client companies or on behalf of companies where he was a principal officer. He has also negotiated acquisitions, mergers, joint ventures, spin offs and strategic divestitures. In his capacity as chief operating officer or chief financial officer at several companies, he gained extensive operational experience via direct responsibility for day to day operations ranging from sales and marketing to accounting, tax reporting, and investor relations. As an adjunct faculty member at the University of New Mexico, Mr. Hellie teaches graduate and undergraduate finance classes at the Anderson School of Management. He holds an MBA from the J.L. Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Business and Economics from Southern Oregon University.
